There she was,

The Garbage Bag,

Resplendent and Radiant,

Impressive and Imposing,

Wrapped up,

Like a present

Cast away…

Waiting to be picked up.

There she was,

The Garbage Bag,

Bringing hope from the long hibernation

Of Plastics Bans and Rising Eco-Consciousness,

There she was,

The Garbage Bag,

Poised and confident

Showing off,

The power granted by the pandemic…

And then, as always

She was

Slashed and ripped,

For the treasure she held,

There she was,

The Garbage Bag,

Lying on the street,

A disgusting sight to behold,

Food wrappers, throwaway cutlery,

Broken glass, soiled diaper, left over food,

Torn receipts, and more…

There she was,

The garbage bag,

Forgotten, forlorn,

Fading into oblivion

There she was,

The Garbage Bag,

Waiting to be banished…

This Earth Day,

Let’s liberate the garbage bag,

From our homes

This Earth Day,

Let’s liberate the garbage bag!

Say no to garbage bags!
